Empowering the next generation of robotics and embodied AI research.
At the heart of every breakthrough in robotics and embodied AI lies the tireless effort of researchers, educators, and students—communities that drive innovation and redefine how machines integrate into human environments. Recognizing the pivotal role of academic and nonprofit organizations in advancing this field, Foxglove is introducing a new Academic Plan at no cost. Designed to tackle challenges like tight budgets, limited access to professional-grade tools, and the complexities of team collaboration, the Academic Plan offers leading visualization, data management, and collaboration tools tailored to empower academic teams to streamline their workflows and advance robotics and embodied AI.
Many academic teams have already leveraged Foxglove to transform their robotics and embodied AI workflows. Institutions such as the University of Western Australia’s REV Lab, Monash Motorsport, Purdue Lunabotics, Duke Robotics Club, Daniel Alp and the VEX world championships, Jiali Sun and PADUAV, the Chalmers University of Technology, FST Lisboa, and Université Laval’s VAUL Team have used Foxglove to iterate quickly and deploy award-winning projects. Inspired by these successes, Foxglove’s Academic Plan extends broader access, ensuring that teams across academia can collaborate more effectively and accelerate the pace of their discoveries.
The Academic Plan offers Foxglove’s core capabilities of enabling visualizing and anaylzing live and recorded multimodal data—capabilities that simplify experimentation, debugging, and creating improvements. Students can analyze real-time sensor data during live tests or replay recorded sessions for detailed analysis. These capabilities help identify patterns, diagnose issues, and validate hypotheses efficiently.
For robotics teams working on collaborative projects, sharing data and insights is critical. Foxglove enables students to create and share custom layouts, making it easier to communicate complex findings across teams. These layouts can be tailored to specific tasks, such as visualizing point clouds for SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) or monitoring the state of a robotic arm during manipulation tasks. The Academic Plan includes 1TB+ of cloud storage, ensuring that teams can store and access large datasets—facilitating these iterative workflows—without storage limitations.
Webhooks and private extensions enable students to tailor Foxglove to their unique needs, incorporating proprietary tools or automating routine tasks. Additionally, the Academic Plan supports unlimited users, bandwidth, and devices, allowing all students on a team or in a lab to connect and manage diverse robot configurations. Whether working with fleets of drones or sensor-rich autonomous vehicles, researchers and students can analyze the vast amount of multimodal data that comes off robots and easily maintain unique customizations without restrictions.
Eligible users—students, researchers, professors, and nonprofit organizations—can sign up for the Academic Plan using their .edu or .ac email address, to gain immediate access to the platform at no cost. Those outside traditional academic domains can also apply by using the contact us form.
Foxglove’s tools are already being adopted by teams across academia and industry, helping visualize and interpret data from robotics systems worldwide. By extending these capabilities to the academic and nonprofit sectors, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the development of robotics and embodied AI technologies.
Whether you’re a student building your first robot, a professor leading a research lab, or a nonprofit developing robotics solutions for underserved communities, we’re excited to support your journey. Together, we can advance the state of robotics and embodied AI, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved.
